Women’s scarves and shawls come in all different shapes and sizes and of course the range of colors and patterns is simply vast.  What many of these accessories have in common is that they are typically very versatile and can be worn around many different parts of the body and tied in numerous different ways.  The neck, hair, shoulders and arms, not to mention the waist, hips and bust can all be decorated with scarves and shawls of different styles, creating endless new high-fashion looks to suit every occasion and season.
There are, however, a number of things which set certain scarves and shawls apart.  The fabric, for example, can make the world of difference in terms of whether the accessory can be made to look smart or casual and this will, of course, determine how usable and how versatile it is.  Wool, cotton or manmade fabrics, for instance, will only ever look casual, whereas soft, silky pashmina works perfectly for every occasion.
